Floor Seal Technology Reduces Risk of Moisture-Related Concrete Floor Failure in Large Bay Area Hospital Construction Projects

Building owners, architects, contractors use VaporSeal 309 Moisture Emission Control System to ensure concrete substrate meets stringent floor covering manufacturer’s requirements
Floor Seal Technology, Inc. announced that its proprietary VaporSeal 309 Moisture Emission Control System is being used by three of the Bay Area’s largest hospital construction projects scheduled for completion between 2013 and 2015: San Francisco General Hospital, UCSF Medical Center Mission Bay and Regional Medical Center of San Jose. These installations represent a combined total of more than one million square feet, bringing the total of Floor Seal Technology’s concrete treatment applications to more than 60 million square feet.

When floor coverings are to be installed over concrete, moisture vapor emission and alkalinity levels in concrete slab and deck surfaces must remain within flooring manufacturer’s requirements. To meet these stringent specifications, Floor Seal Technology manufactures its own proprietary membrane-forming curing compounds and accounts for every aspect of the installation, including pre-application consulting, on-site monitoring of the application process, and follow-up evaluations after the installation is complete.

“Moisture-related floor failures can lead to construction delays, costly replacement and legal liabilities,” said Floor Seal Technology CEO Bill Clyne. “That’s why we guarantee the bonding of our product and the adhesion of the floor covering to the concrete, and top that off with a ten-year warranty.”

Floor Seal Technology guarantees bonding of its moisture control products to the concrete with no exclusions for silicates or other common concrete additives, and adhesion of the floor covering with no exclusions for concrete cracks, joints or improperly prepared substrates. The company’s warranty includes repair or replacement of finished floor system and accessories damaged by relative humidity, vapor emission, or alkalinity for a minimum of ten years.
